Holly's Wedding

On Saturday, we spent whole day doing the wedding. My cousin's oldest daughter, Holly, was married in the Los Angeles Temple. Holly is the first of the great grandchildren to get married. Although she has more than 30 cousins, none of them were able to come to the wedding, but it still was an enormous wedding. He is the youngest of 7 children, and Holly has about 32 aunts and uncles. You throw in a few grandparents, a few cousins (once removed) and friends and before you know it, there are 130 people standing 3 rows deep in a sealing room that just isn't big enough. But it didn't affect the ceremony at all. The bride was still lovely, the groom smiling, and the ceremony was just as sweet and special as it was the day I was married.
We spent the rest of the day with cousins, aunts and uncles and family. It was a very fun day to be together. We are so grateful that we were able to share this special day with Holly.

Being Eight is Great!

This week my baby turned 8 years old. It doesn't seem like it has been 8 years since he was born. His birthday was on Thursday. We did manage to have a small celebration. Since he is the youngest, he has to share his birthday with a myriad of other activities that were happening that day, baseball practice, open house, etc. We found a time to squeeze in a birthday dinner, presents and cake with the family. Then came time for the annual height measure. It is hard to believe just how tall this boy is!

Look at Me!

After a week of playing during Spring Break, we were grateful to return to our schedule and have a calm week. It is just the calm before the storm, June will bring a storm of activity that will last into July. Jayd had a little excitement this week. He is really interested in cars, especially exotic cars. He was thrilled when he spotted a lamborghini in the parking lot at Vons (of all places) and I happened to have the camera with me. It was like he had won the lottery, he couldn't stop talking about it for days!

RV adventure

This week was Spring Break. We didn't do very much, but we finally went for a little adventure in the RV that has been parked in my driveway for the past 9 months. We didn't want to go too far, but we did want to try out the RV. So we went up to Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez valley.
We went to the Santa Barbara Mission first. It was a beautiful mission, though not very big. It had a square in the middle with flowers and a fountain, along with a lovely colorful chapel.

After spending the night in the RV, we headed out towards Solvang. We didn't make it, we were distracted by ostriches! There was an ostrich farm where we could feed the ostriches. We loved our spontaneous stop!
Our last stop was at Solvang, a quaint Danish town in the middle of California. We enjoyed walking through the European style streets, admired the windmills, smelled the roses, and tried local cuisine, aebleskeevers. We enjoyed all of our little adventure.
